Postmortem (and Aristotle in a cat suit)
Hello everyone! This is my first time doing one of these, so I apologize if it’s too short or a little all over the place, but I bring you the postmortem for No Blood, No Fowl.
When I came up with the idea and decided to enter this jam, I did so because I wanted to finish something. I’ve had so many ideas and passions in the last couple years for indie games and projects, but due to outside factors, most of them are either out of the realm of possibility or will take a very, very long time to create. This jam was the perfect opportunity to just put something complete out there. And that’s what we did!
The point of the game was to be funny. I do struggle a fair bit to have confidence in my comedy writing, but this was great practice for me. I am also so glad people have taken to Aristotle, as he was an absolute delight to write and create a character for. I wish I could go into detail about beta designs or concepts for him, but in all honesty, I think we hit the nail on the head the first time around with him.
I never expected anyone to really play it, though. I loved what we’d made and was proud of it, but I had no idea if other people would. I just wanted to make a funny little game about someone dying in the stupidest way possible.
The response was far more positive and numerous than I ever expected. And I cannot thank each and every one of you enough. Any positive or silly little comment really did make my day. I’ve wanted to do game development and tell stories for as long as I can remember, and seeing people enjoy what I make is genuinely one of the most precious feelings for me.
So, what now?
Great question. I do have another indie game demo in the works, as well as a couple other ideas, but I’m going to focus on producing said demo before anything else. I don’t have a timeline for when it’ll be out, but I’ll announce it when the time comes.
If you want to see more of my work, I make fangames and run a YouTube channel, all of which can be found here. Feel free to check them out if you’re interested!
As for the future of No Blood, No Fowl, I’ll update it if any bugs or issues arise, but there are currently no plans for anything more. That’s not to say we’ll never see Aristotle again, but for now, I’m satisfied with this.
Oh, and don’t think I forgot about that cat suit promise. Thanks Maddiinosaur <3
(P.S) I was told if we get 300 reviews, she’ll draw him on a body pillow
Once again, thank you for playing No Blood, No Fowl, and I hope you stick around for things to come! 💕🐤
